Accessibility Training and Consultancy
How could Accessibility Training benefit your organisation?
By supporting your organisation to identify areas of development in accessibility. Deepening knowledge and understanding within teams who will go on be more confident in providing high quality access for everyone who engages with your organisation. This could include staff, customers, audiences, participants, volunteers, board members or candidates for recruitment.
Everyone benefits from accessible, equitable and inclusive organisations.
I can work with your organisation to help you become more neuro-inclusive.
I worked with Breaks and Joins project to raise awareness among their facilitator team of different access needs as they relate to neurodiversity, and to develop their practice to become more neuro-inclusive.
I can provide organisational training on language around neurodiversity (understanding what is meant by neurodivergent, neurodiversity, neurotypical and learning disability).
I trained practitioners working with Break and Joins in neurodiversity awareness and offered clear and actionable ideas leading to them developing changes in their practice.
I can provide training on the Social model of disability, both the theory and how it applies to neuro-inclusion and participatory practice.
All training and teaching I deliver include the Social model of disability, for example, in providing Inclusive Practice training to MA Students at Goldsmiths and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
I can train organisations, makers and facilitators on neuro-inclusive communication and sensory awareness.
I worked with BLINK to lead and develop training for school staff to build sensory awareness into a creative curriculum.
I worked with staff and the Bangladeshi Parents and Carers Association to create bespoke creative sensory experiences for participants with complex sensory processing needs.
I can work on your artistic project to enable all stakeholders and creators are able to communicate equitably and artistically.
I worked with BLINK artist Delson Weekes, who has learning disabilities and is non-speaking, to create PULL UP, a recorded album and performance piece supported by Unlimited. I worked with the BLINK team and with Delson to find new ways for him to communicate his creative ideas, including using digital technology and other forms of communication support.
I can work with your organisation to help you develop an inclusive communication culture and strategy.
I have worked with school staff to develop communication-friendly classroom practices along the Speech Bubbles model.
I developed and created organisation structures at BLINK to allow all co-directors of the company, including two with learning disabilities, to run the company equitably and fully participate in decision-making.
I have delivered training for national Mencap in accessible communication with storytelling for schools and early years settings.
