BLINK Dance Theatre
Former Co-Founder and Co-Director
About BLINK
Neurodiverse group of artists who perform and facilitate together.
BLINK was created to demonstrate the co-founders commitment to equal artistic and strategic collaboration.
My time in BLINK
Alongside the co-directors I:
Produced highly accessible multi-sensory participatory projects in diverse education and community settings.
Devised interdisciplinary boundary-pushing productions that align with the Relaxed Performance revolution and innovative approaches to access for both audience and artist.
Offered employment and training opportunities that support the needs of individual artists to reach their potential.
Provided dynamic training in inclusive arts practice that promoted BLINKs vision.
Objectives
To create a company where neurodiversity and learning disability were not barriers to successfully reaching artistic potential.
To offer creative role models and career opportunities to young neurodivergent and learning disabled people.
How is this achieved?
Taking everything needed to run an arts organisation and developing new and innovative solutions to communication, social and environmental barriers experienced within our team.
Using our awareness and lived experience to create highly accessible and engaging workshops and performances.
For example, creating accessible practices for scheudling, decision making and meetings.
Legacy
BLINK are now an NPO and thriving leader in neuro-inclusive arts practice and continuing the commitment to radical inclusion and equality among it’s leadership.
